Reserve Bank of India appoints Ajay Kumar as Executive Director

The Reserve Bank of India on Thursday said that Ajay Kumar has been appointed as the Executive Director (ED), who will look after the portfolios of currency management, foreign exchange and premises. Before being promoted as ED, he was heading the New Delhi Regional Office of RBI as Regional Director.

For three decades, Kumar has worked at the Reserve Bank in foreign exchange, banking supervision, financial inclusion, currency management and other areas. The RBI said in a statement that as executive director, he would look after the currency management department, foreign exchange department and premises department.

Kumar holds a Masters in Economics from Patna University, MS in Banking from ICFAI and Certified Bank Manager from Institute of Bank Management and Research, Hyderabad. He has pursued the Executive Management program from the Kellogg School of Management, Chicago, and holds other professional qualifications, including a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (CAIIB).
