The New Delhi area was turned into a cantonment from Tuesday night itself. Delhi Police, NSG, and Para Military Force took over the security of New Delhi district. Apart from 500 CCTV cameras on Rajpath, more than 100 CCTV cameras have been installed on the roads connected with Rajpath. Control rooms have been made at many places of these cameras. A large number of policemen are keeping an eye on them 24 hours a day.

A senior Delhi Police official said that from 12 o’clock on Monday night, all the borders of Delhi will be sealed. The borders of New Delhi district were also sealed from Tuesday evening itself. On the borders, the Delhi Police and the police of neighboring states jointly started checking.

Vehicles will be allowed to enter Delhi only after strict checking. According to the Delhi Police spokesperson’s office, Delhi Police and paramilitary forces will completely seal Delhi on Tuesday night. Apart from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate, along with the main venue Rajpath, a separate security cordon has been made till the Red Fort. Senior police officers themselves will go out on patrol from midnight. SWAT teams have been prepared at many important places to deal with all kinds of situations. Police personnel posted in all the beats and the police station have been asked to keep an eye on every person by patrolling continuously in their respective areas.

The police had taken over all the high-rise buildings located around the route of the parade and tableau after 6 pm on Monday. Commandos armed with aircraft guns and binoculars were stationed on the buildings. Sharp shooters of Delhi Police were deployed on high-rise buildings. A thorough checking of vehicles was started on the roads.
