Happy Republic Day 2023: India will celebrate its 74th Republic Day on Thursday, 26 January. The grand Republic Day Parade in New Delhi will be the main attraction of the occasion. It will feature marches by several contingents of the armed forces, tableaus of several states and departments of the government.
This year’s theme for the festival is ‘Jan-Bhagidari (people’s participation)’. Starting from Vijay Chowk and moving towards the historic Red Fort via the Duty Path, this display of the country’s culture and military prowess will be a delightful sight. President Draupadi Murmu will unfurl the national flag at the recently unveiled Duty Path, formerly known as Rajpath.
For those unable to watch the procession from the stands, there are options to watch the parade on TV or stream it online. While the festivities begin at 7.30 am, the parade starts at 10 am itself. Interested people can watch it from the comfort of their homes on government channels like Doordarshan and Sansad TV. Other regional and national news channels will also telecast the parade live.
Those wishing to stream the parade online can do so through a number of YouTube channels. Primary among these are the channels of the President of India and the Ministry of Defence. In fact, the Ministry of Defense also streamed the Military Tattoo & Tribal Dance Fest, which flagged off this year’s event on January 23. YouTube channels of several news outlets will also telecast the parade live. Streaming on republicday.nic.in is another option.
The streaming option comes with the advantage of pausing and rewinding the video so that you never miss a second of the extraordinary procession.
People can also tune in to YouTube and TV channels to listen to President Draupadi Murmu’s address to the nation on the evening of January 25. On the morning of January 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address at the Red Fort.
