Sensing the situation, the then administration had airlifted some senior BJP leaders including Murli Manohar Joshi, Narendra Modi to Srinagar. Lal Chowk was a complete battlefield. There were only security personnel all around. In about 15 minutes, amidst tight security arrangements, Murli Manohar Joshi and his team member Narendra Modi and others unfurled the tricolor. During this, the terrorists also fired rockets which did not hit the target. After this all the leaders had returned safely.
Today Narendra Modi’s government is at the center. There is President’s rule in the state. There is an army of the country in Srinagar, despite this, no one is allowed to hoist the tricolor unannounced at Lal Chowk.
