Republic Day 2022: Delhi Police bans flying paragliders, drones or UAVs till February 15

New Delhi: The preparations for the Republic Day are in full swing in Delhi. At the same time, keeping in mind the security, vigilance is also being taken.

Operation of sub-conventional aerial platforms, including drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), paragliders and hot air balloons, will remain banned in the national capital from today. This order will be effective till February 15.

Delhi Police further said that it was decided following intelligence reports that some criminal or anti-social elements or terrorists may pose a threat to the security of general public, dignitaries and important establishments by use of sub-conventional air platforms.

Order to remain in effect till February 15: Delhi Police

Media reports quoting Delhi Police Commissioner Asthana said that this order will come into effect from January 20 and will be in force for a period of 27 days i.e. till February 15 (both days inclusive) unless it is withdrawn earlier. .

Those going against the rule will be punished under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

Ahead of the Republic Day, Delhi Police has “increased security” after receiving information from intelligence agencies about the possibility of a terrorist attack in the National Capital Region (NCR).

According to reports, around 300 cameras with face recognition facility have been installed around the Rajpath to minimize any threat.

Red Fort will remain closed for five days

Earlier, Delhi Police had said in a statement that the Red Fort would be closed for the general public for five days.

Delhi Police said that the Red Fort will be closed for civilians and tourists from January 22 to January 26 in view of the security on Republic Day.
