Reports of Kovid cases increase again in Maharashtra, 2,944 new infections, 7 deaths today

Maharashtra on Friday registered a surge in fresh Covid-19 cases as the state reported 2,944 new COVID-19 cases, up from 266 a day earlier. According to the data provided by the state health department, seven more people succumbed to the infection. With the fresh cases the state’s total tally rose to 79,98,673 and the death toll to 1,47,971.

In addition the cumulative tally stood at 2,678 on Thursday, while the number of deaths exceeded eight.

The fresh COVID-19 deaths were reported from Mumbai, Vasai-Virar (two each), Thane, Raigad and Aurangabad (one each).

The official said that after 3,499 people were cured of the infection in the last 24 hours, the number of people discharged so far has gone up to 78,31,851, taking the active number to 18,851 in the state.

Data from the state health department showed a coronavirus recovery rate of 97.91 per cent and a mortality rate of 1.84 per cent.
