Replant tree blocking parking access in Dona Paula, says HC Goa News – Times of India

Panaji: The High Court of Bombay in Goa has directed the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to remove a tree blocking entry and exit at a parking lot. dona paula Ghat High Court also directed CCP “To re-plant the tree at a suitable location, thereby ensuring that there is no obstruction at the entry/exit point of the parking lot”.

Advocate Amey Kakodkar, representing the residents of the area, submitted photographs to the court which showed a tree was planted at the entrance of the parking lot which was blocking the entry and exit.
“We are sure that the respondent No. 3 i.e. the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) shall ensure that the flow of traffic at the said place is managed in such a manner that there is very little chance of traffic jams, given that the place is famous for Dona Paula’s Near the tourist spot,” the High Court had said in an earlier order.
In October, the government assured the High Court that it would provide parking facilities for tourist vehicles visiting the Dona Paula Jetty within a month.
Advocate General Devidas Pangam had told the court that the entry and exit of the parking facility would be made accessible by removing all the obstructions within four weeks. The residents submitted in the High Court that there is no entry or exit in the parking facility, after spending taxpayers’ money. Earlier last year, the state government had said that 90% of the parking facilities were ready and only the gates had to be fixed.
Despite the High Court directing the government to use the acquired land for parking, residents complained that vehicles carrying tourists at Dona Paula Jetty continued to park on the roadside en route to the pier, causing chaos in the area. And there is disturbance.
The residents had approached the court seeking immediate construction of parking and toilet facilities on the land acquired in 2019 and restraining the government from using the land for other purposes.
