Remarks on PM: SC Transfers 3 FIRs Against Pawan Khera to Lucknow, Extends Bail Till Apr 10

While extending the interim bail till April 10, a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala took note of the fact that three FIRs were registered against Kheda.

The Supreme Court on Monday clubbed three FIRs registered against Congress leader Pawan Khera for allegedly making objectionable remarks against the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi And transferred them to the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

While extending the interim bail till April 10, a bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala took note of the fact that three FIRs were registered against Khera.

Of the three FIRs, two were lodged at Chawni police station in Varanasi and Hazratganj police station in Lucknow. The third FIR was registered in Assam.

A division bench of the apex court directed that all the three FIRs be transferred to the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow.

Kheda, whose interim bail was extended till April 10, will have to appear before the competent court in Lucknow to seek regular bail in the matter.

The apex court was, from time to time, extending the interim bail granted to Khera, who was arrested by the Assam Police on February 23 in connection with his alleged remarks against Modi at a press conference in Mumbai on February 17.

The Congress spokesperson was arrested at the Delhi airport when he was offloaded from the flight to Raipur. He had sought bail from a magistrate court here on February 23 after a CJI-led bench had granted him interim bail during an urgent hearing a day earlier.
