Red Air plane carrying 126 people crashes at Miami airport, catches fire

A plane belonging to Dominican Republic air carrier Red Air carrying 126 people has crashed at Miami International Airport after landing gear collapsed. Officials said the plane caught fire immediately, although no one was seriously injured. The fire was caused by a landing gear drop on a Red Air flight arriving at Miami International Airport in the United States from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

He said there were 126 people on board and three of them were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Other passengers were being taken from the plane to the terminal.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue posted on Twitter that firefighters have brought the blaze under control and are reducing fuel leaks.

TV news images showed the plane came to rest in the grass near a runway and the plane and an area around it apparently doused with white fire extinguishing chemicals. At least three fire fighting vehicles were stationed nearby.
