RCP Singh takes oath as minister; JDU leader’s journey from IAS officer to minister

Patna: JD(U) national president RCP Singh took oath as a Union minister on Wednesday and has been appointed steel minister. After the ongoing struggle since the Lok Sabha elections, JDU finally made a place in Modi’s cabinet. After 2004, no one from the JD(U) was appointed to the Union Cabinet. The current Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar was the last inducted Union Minister from the JD(U).

It is known that RCP Singh is considered close to Nitish Kumar. RCP Singh, 62, hails from the chief minister’s home district and has been with him since 1998.

RCP Singh was a UP cadre officer of the Indian Administrative Service and was the personal secretary to Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma in the year 1996. At the same time, Nitish Kumar became a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and came in contact. With RCP Singh

When Nitish Kumar became the Railway Minister in 1998, he appointed RCP Singh as his special secretary. After this RCP Singh stayed with Nitish Kumar.

For a long time he also worked as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. In the year 2010, he took voluntary retirement from the Indian Administrative Service. After this the Chief Minister sent RCP Singh to the Rajya Sabha.

JDU National President RCP Singh’s full name is Ramchandra Prasad Singh. Presently, he is a Rajya Sabha MP from JD(U). He was born on 6 July 1958 in Mustafapur, Nalanda district of Bihar.

RCP Singh obtained his bachelor’s degree from Patna Science College and pursued higher education at JNU. He passed UPSC competitive exam in 1984.
