Despite starting fidgety in the start of the innings, Kohli grew in the game and started taking it to the opposition in what felt like a tricky pitch to bat on. The former Indian captain in the process went past 7,000 T20 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He is the first one to achieve that milestone in the history of franchise cricket. Kohli has close to 6,600 runs in the IPL for his franchise, while the rest of his runs have come in the now defunct Champions League.

Kohli, who seemed like a deer in the headlights till now, has said multiple times that he does not know what is going wrong in the middle, because he has felt good about his batting throughout the tournament. On the night, Kohli brought out his passionate self, celebrating every single boundary that RCB hit, pumping out the crowd throughout the innings.

The maestro got out to Rashid Khan in the 17th over of the game, while stepping down the track. He had just split the boundary riders for a magnificent six, and wanted to get one more off the Afghan spinner.

This was Kohli’s highest run in the IPL this season, and it came off hitting eight fours and two sixes.
