RCB look strong on paper but on most occasions, it all depends on individual talent. Virat Kohli And du Plessis has been the backbone of their batting unit so far. Former India captain and batting great Sunil Gavaskar feels that the other members of the RCB camp need to pull up their socks and share the responsibilities.

Gavaskar, speaking on Star Sports, said that Kohli will definitely look to score big in every game, but he will also need support from other batsmen in the team.

“This year RCB is banking on Kohli. If he plays well in every match, then the chances of RCB winning increases. Virat is one of the biggest superstars; Not only RCB but fans of every team would like to see runs coming out of his bat. But other players in the team have to improve their game and share the load,” Gavaskar said.

Meanwhile, former Australia cricketer Tom Moody also said that the RCB team seems to be overly dependent on Kohli and Faf, which is not a good sign for any team in a competition like IPL.

“To me, RCB’s middle-order looks weak, and teams will aim to take advantage of this fact and get the wickets of Kohli and Faf early. If the opposition teams manage to get a few wickets in the powerplay, they will be (very) in the game against RCB,” concluded Moody.

The Faf du Plessis-led side are currently seventh on the points table with one win, which came in their last home game against Mumbai Indians. He currently has a negative net run-rate of -1.256.
