Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is setting up a mechanism for international trade settlements in rupees, for which banks would need prior approval for use, it said in a release on Monday.
The order comes into force with immediate effect and the mechanism is designed to “promote the growth of global trade with emphasis on exports”, the RBI said.
