Ravindra Jadeja redeemed himself this year and won the trophy for Chennai at his home ground in front of a full capacity crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan lauded star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for holding his nerves in a crisis situation during the Indian Premier League 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. Jadeja snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Titans in a thrilling final. The odds were not in CSK’s favor but Jadeja was still in the middle with 10 runs needed off the last two balls. The southpaw smashed the first ball straight down the ground for a maximum, Mohit Sharma lofted the second on the pads and Jadeja lofted it over fine leg to seal the match and the trophy for Chennai at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Pathan said Jadeja had suffered a lot last season as he was made the captain of the franchise but struggled to guide CSK and had to step down midway through the season. The southpaw didn’t even play in the final stages of IPL 2023 due to injury.

However, they redeemed themselves this year and won the trophy for Chennai at their home ground in front of a full capacity crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Hats off to Sir Jadeja. He worked for CSK in crisis situations and led his team to a record-equalling fifth IPL title. He held his nerves even as the game slipped out of CSK’s grip. Personally, he suffered a lot last season but India’s star all-rounder has put all the disappointment behind him. Son of Gujarat wins for a team from Chennai in front of a capacity ground in Ahmedabad. It couldn’t have gone better,” Pathan told Star Sports.

The former India all-rounder also lauded Mohit Sharma for his stupendous IPL season as the returnee took 27 wickets for the Titans. Pathan said the GT pacer put on a once in a lifetime performance in IPL 2023

“The emotion Mohit Sharma must be going through is unimaginable. But what impression has he made in this tournament? It was the performance of a lifetime from Mohit Sharma, and this season, he should be proud of what he has achieved. Hopefully he will continue to do well in the coming season as well.”
