Rashmika Mandanna gets candid about her role in Mission Majnu and how she had to prepare extensively for it.

Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming spy-thriller Mission Majnu has already invested with an engrossing trailer and an intriguing backdrop of a covert operation in the midst of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. While the Shantanu Bagchi directorial is still a few days away from its OTT release, Rashmika Mandanna, who has already started her Bollywood traveled with Amitabh Bachchan and Neena Gupta starrer Goodbye, talks about her role in the upcoming film and how she got into the skin of a visually impaired character.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, the Kirik Party actress shared that the role was one of a kind for her and she had to undergo special training for it. She said, “As an actor, I have never done this. Again, it is a retro kind of film so I had to wear those costumes and also, I had to train for the visual aspect. I was wondering how would I accomplish this as it was very new to me.

Calling it a challenge, Rashmika further revealed that her eyes had to do the talking and she should not have looked at Sidharth Malhotra at all. The actress shared, “I am the person who has to make eye contact. I can’t see anyone else while talking. But in the entire film, I cannot see Tariq (Siddharth’s character). That’s too hard to do, I thought. I don’t come from a background studying acting. I have to live those moments to feel it. But it was a challenge.”

She also said, “I went through a couple of weeks of taxing workshops. I used to have such a bad headache at the end of it. They would blindfold you and throw tennis balls at you so you knew where it was coming.” It was really painful and gruesome.

Promoted as an untold story about India’s biggest covert operations, Mission Majnu will unfold the journey of its lead characters before and during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The film is scheduled to release on January 20.
