Bharuch:
A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and strangled to death by an unidentified man near Amod town in Gujarat’s Bharuch district. The police gave this information on Wednesday.
An official of the police station said that the victim’s body was found on Monday evening.
He said the post-mortem was conducted at Bharuch Civil Hospital and the report said that the girl was raped before being strangled.
The girl had left her house on Monday afternoon to get firewood and did not return till evening. They said she was found dead in a cotton field.
“A case has been registered against unknown accused under relevant provisions of Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act,” the official said.
He said senior police officials visited the spot and separate teams from the local crime branch, special operations group and others have been formed to nab the accused.
