New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh on Monday penned a special note on National Award-winning filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali on completing 25 glorious years in Indian cinema.
Ranveer Singh dug up two behind-the-scenes photos that show him on the sets of his films with the iconic director. Sharing the pictures, he wrote a long note in the caption, explaining what it really means to work with the legendary filmmaker.
“My bond with SLB is very deep. I have done my best work with him. He is a master of his craft and a true artist. Whenever you are guided by him you have tremendous growth as an artiste He challenges you, He inspires you to deliver a performance that is visceral, spirited and comes from a deep place within you. He enriches and inspires you. He nurtures his actors and is at their best. Removes the performance,” wrote Ranveer.
The actor, who has worked with Bhansali for blockbuster films – ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmaavat’, says that working in Bhansali’s film brings one into the creative flow, and after the process , it seems to have developed within him.
“He has the ability to raise the stakes of the struggle in shooting a movie scene, like achieving that gold standard, that degree of excellence often feels like a moving target, and he makes you feel like hitting the target. Marana is a matter of life and death,” the 36-year-old superstar wrote.
He further shared that the iconic director leads one like this and makes sure “you win this uphill battle with your own creation.”
The ‘Gully Boy’ actor shared that Bhansali expands his bandwidth as an artiste, forcing an artiste to find new depths within himself.
“His pursuit of excellence is relentless. That’s what sets him apart. That’s what makes him so great. He’s limitless. And his craft is limitless. And when you work with him, you believe you’re limitless,” Ranveer said that she may reportedly be seen in Bhansali’s ‘Baiju Bawra’.
Referring to him as a ‘master puppet’, the ‘Befikre’ actor shared, “I often say that working with SLB is like a sacrament for a creative person. He brings out something in you that needs to be done. You didn’t know you had and by doing so you reveal yourself to be real.”
Apart from Ranveer, his superstar wife Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt also congratulated the filmmaker on completing 25 glorious years in Bollywood.
Bhansali made his directorial debut in 1996 with the film ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’ and since then he has never looked back. He went on to build a strong legacy of passionate cinema through films such as ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999), ‘Devdas’ (2002) and recent productions – ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela’ (2013) . ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015) and ‘Padmavat’ (2018).
The dynamic filmmaker’s films are appreciated not only for his powerful story and performances but also for his transcendent music, impeccable costumes, lavish set designs, signature dance moves and powerful dialogues. Bhansali has skillfully employed Indian culture and tradition in his films, capturing the cinematic experience in a way never seen before.
Meanwhile, Ranveer, who has entertained his fans with some stellar performances in films, is all set to make his TV debut by hosting Colors’ quiz show ‘The Big Picture’.
Apart from this, the actor will be seen in films like ’83’, ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, ‘Circus’, the Hindi remake of blockbuster hit ‘Anniyaan’ and Karan Johar’s next directorial venture ‘Rocky Aur Rani’. Ki Prem Kahani with his ‘Gully Boy’ co-star Alia Bhatt.
On the other hand, Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be coming up with his much awaited film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ which stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role. The film, which marks Bhansali’s first collaboration with Alia, is based on the book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ authored by S Hussain Zaidi.
The project will also see Bhansali Productions collaborating with Jayantilal Gada’s Pen India Limited and also marks the reunion of superstars Ajay Devgn and Bhansali after the iconic 1999 film ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’.
‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ will be released in theaters after the current pandemic situation in the country subsides.
