In view of the scenario, senior officials were informed and forces from neighboring police stations like Paliganj, Bikram and Dulhin Bazar were dispatched to the spot.
To control the situation, Paliganj SPDO Ajay Kumar, Bikram Circle Inspector and other senior officers available in the sub-division also reached the spot.
Rani Talab SHO Paswan said that mithilesh Yadav, Sadhu Yadav and at least a dozen others from Barer are evading arrest.
“It was they who pelted stones and then attacked us with batons. Mithilesh was with the tractor. He is also an accused in another case of sand smuggling and attacking the police. He was presently out on bail,” he said.
The SHO said that all of them had stopped the tractor laden with sand that all the occupants started pelting bricks and stones lying near the spot.
“Raids were conducted on Mithilesh, Sadhu and many others in the village. A large quantity of IMFL and country liquor were recovered from the houses of both.
Paswan said that at present additional forces have been deployed in the village and the process of registering an FIR against all the attackers is on. He said that raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
