Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali may have to look for a fresh face for his ambitious film Baiju Bawra, if recent developments are to be believed.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has spent the last few months dedicating himself to his family, especially after the demise of his father Rishi Kapoor. While Neetu Kapoor is no longer with her kids, Ranbir is regularly seen at family gatherings and functions. The actor was last seen on the silver screen in the 2018 film Sanju. Since then, the actor has been working on several projects, which are soon to be released. One of these projects that created a lot of buzz online was the remake of the 1952 film Baiju Bawra. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who was responsible for Ranbir’s first project in Bollywood as the lead, was working on the remake.

According to Bollywood Hungama, developments in May revealed that Bhansali was in talks with Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn for the lead roles in the film along with Ranbir and Deepika Padukone. While it was almost certain then that the actor would be back on the big screen with SLB, a recent report mentioned a shocking update. Now, Ranbir seems to be in two minds about the film and might not work with Bhansali for his upcoming project.

“Ranbir Baiju is confused between Bawra and Dharma Project. He doesn’t seem keen to work with Bhansali again. His experience with Bhansali in his last project Saawariya was not so good. The actor-director duo has not worked together since then,” said a source close to the development in this report. Additionally, the source also rubbished all the rumors about Kartik Aaryan replacing Ranbir for the film, claiming that it is “far from the truth.”

After a long hiatus from cinema, Ranbir will be seen in Brahmastra opposite Amitabh Bachchan. He also has Shamshera in the pipeline, the Indian adaptation of Howard Pyle’s Mary Adventures of Robin Hood. The actors are also committed to Luv Ranjan’s next film with Shraddha Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal.
