According to preliminary information, some police personnel and people were injured during stone pelting. The procession was attacked by people from a particular community who objected to loud DJ music playing during the procession. This resulted in a clash between the two communities (Hindu-Muslim), after which stone pelting was reported.
The police faced tough conditions and tear gas shells were used to disperse the rioters. Additional forces from some other local police stations were alerted and deployed on the spot.
