Ram Charan also shared that playing the role of Alluri Seetha Rama Raju in RRR was a ‘lot of responsibility’.

Ever since the time SS Rajamouli’s RRR hit the theatres, it has been receiving immense appreciation from everyone across the globe. Recently, the song Naatu Naatu from the film also created history at the Golden Globes and won the Best Original Song award. Talking about the same, Ram Charan recently mentioned that it is satisfying to see the West recognizing Indian cinema. “It’s a great moment for all of us,” he said in a podcast with Next Big Picture.

When asked how he bagged the role of Alluri Seetha Rama Raju, Ram Charan revealed, “I have worked with Rajamouli before. So Tarak did. When he chose the concept of two best friends on screen and the drama surrounding them, he thought it would be ideal to cast two actors who are friends off-screen. This is the main reason why they chose us. He doesn’t owe anyone except his film and script. Ram Charan also shared that playing the role of Alluri Seetha Rama Raju in RRR was a ‘lot of responsibility’.

Talking about the workout regime, Ram Charan said, “If you were to be cast in a Rajamouli film, his actors had to look their best and ripped. I used to make fun of him saying that he was body-shaming us. I want to be generally fit. But Rajamouli’s fitness level is of another level. With the pandemic, it was even tougher. It was supposed to be the fastest film, but with the pandemic, we had to keep it up for two more years.

The actor also talked about the popular track Naatu Naatu and revealed how he rehearsed for almost six days to bring out the electrifying energy in the song. Ram Charan also revealed that both he and Jr NTR lost around 3 kgs while working on the song.

“Rehearsals and rehearsals took 6 whole days. I lost around 4 kgs and Tarak lost 2-3 kgs. My knees still shake when I talk about that song. Tarak and I have unique abilities and styles. The choreography was not difficult because we have worked hard, it was the script that demanded it. It was two bodies that had to look alike. The synergy and idea that we have in common has to be laid out well. There were two bodies, one soul. We had to synchronize every single frame, every single step. It was not Ram Charan style or Tarak style, it was Rajamouli style. We kept running on a loop like a marathon,” he said.

Releasing in March 2022, RRR is a fictional story of Indian revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju played by Ram Charan and Komaram Bheem played by Jr. NTR. The film is set in the 1920s when India was under British rule. there are stars in the movie Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan in lead roles.
