Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday took the oath of office and secrecy as the third President of Nepal.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and other high-ranking government officials were also present on the occasion.
Senior Nepali Congress leader Paudel was on Thursday elected the country’s third president by defeating CPN-UML’s Subas Chandra Nembang.
Of the 52,628 weighting-based votes cast, Poudel got 33,802 while Nembang got 15,518.
A former speaker and one-time minister, President Paudel has had a long political journey to reach the country’s highest state post.
