Actress Rakul Preet Singh has said that she is ready to work in web series and films for the OTT platform. However, the content should be of interest to him and his role should be kick. His comments come at a time when OTT platforms are providing different opportunities to actors to take up challenging roles.
“I find myself attracted and drawn to digital platforms. While there is nothing on the table at the moment that excites me, I am ready for a show or a film on the OTT platform. Content and character matter. The role has to be engaging and central to the story. It will inspire me to try something new and different,” Rakul said in an interview with ETimes.
Rakul also expressed her views on the pan-India acceptance of South actors. Actors such as Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Jr NTR and Prabhas are known as pan-India stars, but have appeared prominently in Telugu and Tamil films.
Rakul Preet Singh is one of the female leads who have been recognized at the pan-India level. Pooja Hegde, Rashmika Mandanna and Taapsee Pannu also have a pan-India presence.
“People have seen regional films in large numbers… Baahubali changed a lot of dynamics a few years back with its pan-India business. And gradually, the odds become blurred,” she said.
Six films of Rakul are going to be released this year. There will be around four films in the first half of the year, including Attack with John Abraham, Runway 34 with Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn, Doctor Ji with Ayushmann Khurrana and then Thank God.
Chhatriwali is scheduled for release in the second half of 2022, followed by a film with Akshay Kumar (tentatively titled Mission Cinderella) in the pipeline. She is also working on a few projects including Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan.
