Isha Malviya talks about the importance of Raksha Bandhan.
Isha Malviya said that even though her brother moved to the US when he was three years old, they have their virtual traditions to maintain their bond.
Raksha Bandhan holds great significance for Indians across the globe, especially today. Television actress Isha Malviya is no different. Despite her brother, Joy residing in Richmond, USA, their bond remains unbroken, as they continue to cherish this tradition, even across continents. Isha opened up about her Raksha Bandhan memories exclusively with News18 Showsha.
Isha said, “We usually get together as a family, and I tie a rakhi on my brother’s wrist, followed by exchanging gifts. My brother, Joy, who moved to the US when he was just 3 years old, has always been a part of these celebrations in spirit. We’ve found ways to keep the tradition alive, even if it’s through video calls.”
The most memorable Raksha Bandhan gift Isha received was a heartfelt letter from Joy. “He wrote about how much he misses our time together and how he wishes to be with me every Raksha Bandhan, despite the distance. It was simple, but it touched my heart deeply,” she recalled.
Traditions are important to Isha, especially the family meal that follows the Rakhi ceremony. “Even though Joy is in the USA, he still follows the culture and every year I keep sure to send Rakhi for him. We try to keep this tradition alive through video calls or sharing a meal virtually. It’s our way of maintaining that connection,” she explained.
“To me, ‘Raksha’ is about emotional and moral support, standing by each other through thick and thin. My brother Joy has always reminded me that true protection is about standing up for what’s right, no matter the distance,” Isha emphasized.
Isha Malviya is widely recognised for her role in the TV series, Udaariyaan. She was last seen in Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 17, where her dynamic with Abhishek Kumar and Samarth Jurel caught everyone’s attention.
Raksha Bandhan, the cherished festival celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters, is being observed across the country today. Bollywood celebrities have also taken to Instagram and social media platforms, filling feeds with heartwarming pictures of their siblings. Just like Isha, they have also shared touching anecdotes, recalling memories that make their bond special.
