Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur says that Saare Jahan Se Achcha Bandh has not stopped as it has a great story which is close to his heart. Roy Kapur is producing Saare Jahan Se Achcha, based on the life of astronaut Rakesh Sharma. Mahesh Mathai will direct this biopic, which is based on the screenplay by noted writer Anjum Rajabali.
The filmmaker, whose latest production Netflix series Aranyak is receiving favorable reviews, said that he would not like to comment till the work on Saare Jahan Se Accha starts. He said, ‘The film will definitely be made. This is a project that is close to our hearts. Roy Kapur, known for Dangal, Haider, Barfi and Kai Po Che, told PTI, “We wouldn’t want to say anything until we go on the floor.”
Saare Jahan Se Achcha has seen a lot of casting changes since its announcement in 2017. Superstar Aamir Khan was first approached to cast as Sharma. Later, Shah Rukh Khan was being considered to play the lead role. He had come close to doing the film but things didn’t work out.
The names of Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Farhan Akhtar have appeared in media reports but there has been no official confirmation of this.
Speaking about getting the right cast for the film, Roy Kapur said that every project faces difficulties, adding that some actors’ names were guessed by the media. He said, ‘It is difficult to make every film. One has to make sure that you do not lose faith and belief in the story. The story is most important.
“You need resilience and trust because most great films are made after going through many ups and downs in the cost of making a film. And that’s what makes him even more special when he comes in front of the audience.”
Saare Jahan Se Achcha will be produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala under the banners of Roy Kapur Films and RSVP Films respectively.
