New Delhi: Startups backed by billionaire investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala airline akasa Boeing 737 Max has been selected.
The airline ordered 72 of these planes, worth $9 billion, at the list price at the Dubai Air Show on Tuesday.
Deliveries of the plane will begin early next year, when the airline expects to start flying.
Earlier this year, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved Max to fly in and out of India. As of now SpiceJet is the only Indian carrier to have B737 MAX but none of those aircraft are flying yet.
