Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Akasa Air will start flying by July end, says Vinay Dubey – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Billionaire investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed akasa air It will hit the skies by the end of next month and ticket sales may start in early July.
The budget carrier’s first Boeing 737 MAX landed in Delhi on Tuesday, which will be used to perform proven flights to obtain an Air Operator Permit (AOP, or licence).
“We will start operations with two aircraft (which is going to happen soon). The flight is expected to be proven in the next one week and AOP is expected in a fortnight,” Akasa Founder, MD & CEO Vinay Dubey Told.
The airline expects 20 B737 MAXs by next summer and will then start international flights in the second half of 2023.
Akasa has ordered 72 ordered B737 Maxes. It will get 18 B737 MAX by next March and the remaining 54 over the next four years.
