Rajkot: A person with previous criminal record has been arrested by the Rajkot police for preparing fake property documents and duping people by promising them land at low cost.
Ramesh Makwana was nabbed by the police while two other accused in the case are still absconding.
According to the police, Chaman Chavda, resident of Raghol village, has registered a case of cheating against Makwana, Jamnagar resident Hirabhai Sagasiya and Jamnagar resident Jairajsinh Rana.
Chavda said in his complaint that the three accused had promised to sell him a piece of land at a price below the market rate.
He did not get possession of the land even after Chavda paid one lakh rupees.
Police investigation revealed that the land which the accused had promised to sell to Chavda was named Ramesh Palsana.
“The accused had prepared fake power of attorney and other documents to show that they were the owners of the land. Palsana was not aware of this racket.
During interrogation of Makwana, it was found that 13 cases including murder, attempt to murder and forging documents were registered against him.
He has escaped from police custody in the past as well.
