New Delhi: Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to his father and former prime minister on friday Rajiv Gandhi on his 77th birth anniversary Veer Bhumi in the national capital.
“A secular India is the only India that can survive. Remember Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji on his birth anniversary,” wrote Rahul Gandhi in a . Facebook Post.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to Gandhi.
Born in 1944, Gandhi was the Prime Minister during 1984–89 and was assassinated in a terrorist attack in 1991.

Born on 20 August 1944, Rajiv Gandhi became the youngest Prime Minister of India after taking office in October 1984. He served as the Prime Minister of India till December 2, 1989.
In May 1991, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber during an election rally in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
Congress celebrates this day as ‘Sadbhavna Diwas’.
