Rajasthan rain: A spokesman of the Meteorological Department said that during the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershower accompanied by strong wind occurred at a few places in East Rajasthan and at isolated places in the western parts of the state.

Some tourists got stuck midway on the ropeway at Savitri Mata Temple in Ajmer today (May 28) due to strong winds.

Premangshu Debnath, manager of ropeway service at Ajmer’s Savitri Mata temple, says, “Due to the strong wind, the passengers were stuck in the ropeway for 5-10 minutes. We immediately sent a rescue team and they were rescued safely.”

Naseerabad and Vijayanagar (both Ajmer), Todabhim (Karauli), Nagrafort (Tonk) and Jaipur received three cm rainfall each during this period, the official said. Due to the active Western Disturbance in the region, rainfall of 1-3 cm was recorded at many places.

The weather office has predicted severe thunderstorm with wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph and has issued an ‘orange alert’ for Sunday and Monday for Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Bharatpur divisions.

It has also advised people not to take shelter under trees.

‘Orange, Yellow’ alert issued for parts of Rajasthan:

The Meteorological Department on Saturday (May 27) issued an ‘Orange’ alert for those parts of Rajasthan where there is a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning on May 28-29. Officials said it has also issued a ‘yellow’ alert for May 30 and 31.

Heavy rain and hailstorm with gusty winds are likely in parts of Rajasthan on May 28-29 under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance, an official of the Meteorological Department said. The official said that the Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for the districts of Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Bharatpur division, where there is a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning with a speed of 50-60 kmph. .

There is also a strong possibility of winds blowing at a speed of 70 kmph, heavy rain and hailstorm at some places. There is a possibility of heavy rains in the districts of Bikaner, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Jaipur divisions.

Officials said the MeT department has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for May 30-31. The Meteorological Department has advised people not to take shelter under trees.
