Jaipur: A 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after some people cut his hair and thrashed him alleging his involvement in the theft. The police gave this information on Tuesday.
Police said Omram Jat was on his way to visit his relatives at Dawa village in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district when some people cut his hair and beat him up.
On Monday, after returning to his native place in Bikaner, Nokha city, he ended his life by jumping into a well.
A statement said that the State Human Rights Commission has sought a factual report from the police and Bikaner administration regarding the incident.
A video of him cutting his hair also surfaced on social media, after which the police swung into action.
Jat was allegedly thrashed before the video was filmed.
Nokha DSP Nam Singh Chauhan said that the investigation of the case started after the video surfaced.
He said the youth committed suicide after people cut his hair and thrashed him.
The DSP said that the body has been handed over to the relatives for the last rites.
Nagaur DSP Vinod Kumar said that Nagaur police have registered a case against some unidentified persons under sections 202 and 306 of IPC.
