Several attempts were made to resume play throughout the day, but due to rain and a damp playing area, the umpires canceled the day’s play after 4 p.m. local time.

Rain and a wet outfield prevented any balls from being bowled on Saturday, the second day of the second Test between West Indies and Pakistan.

Several attempts were made to resume play throughout the day, but due to rain and a damp playing area, the umpires canceled the day’s play after 4 p.m. local time.

Pakistan, who were asked to bat, remained on their overnight score of 212/4 in the first innings, with Mohammad Rizwan 22 and Faheem Ashraf scoring 23.

It started raining before the start of the game, eventually washing away the morning session. Lunch was taken at 11.30 pm as it was raining incessantly.

During the lunch break the rain stopped and the umpires inspected the ground but found that the conditions were too wet to allow play to begin. Throughout the day the ground staff played a game of mouse and cat with rain, which returned after attempting to lift cover or dry up the outfield.

Tea was taken at 2:15 pm in the hope of engaging in some drama in the extended final session.

The umpires did more ground inspections after tea and finally, after discussions with the captains, ruled that the wet outfield and sporadic rain would not allow play to begin.

Tests continue on Sunday with extended hours. The game will start 30 minutes early with 98 overs to be bowled in the day.

West Indies won the tense first Test by one run to lead the two-match series.
