Rain in parts of J&K brings down minimum temperatures at most places – Kashmir Reader

Srinagar: Amid overnight rains, minimum temperatures dropped at most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

A Meteorological Department official said here that in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am today, Srinagar 2.1 mm, Qazigund 1.8 mm, Pahalgam 0.9 mm, Kupwara 0.8 mm, Jammu 2.6 mm, Batote 2.6 mm, Bhaderwah It received 0.4 mm of rain and Katra 3.4 mm. ,

He said the minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 20.0 degrees Celsius as against 22.5 degrees Celsius last night. However, he said, the temperature during this time of the year was 2.3 degrees Celsius above normal for the summer capital.

Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of 20.6 degrees Celsius, up from 19.7 degrees Celsius the previous night. He said the temperature for the gateway city of Kashmir was 4.5 degrees Celsius above normal.

In Pahalgam, the mercury was 16.1 degrees Celsius against the previous night’s 17.1 degrees Celsius and 4.2 degrees Celsius above normal for the resort in South Kashmir. He told GNS that Kokernag recorded a minimum temperature of 19.3 degrees Celsius, which was 18.8 degrees Celsius last night and was 3.6 degrees Celsius above normal.

The world famous Gulmarg resort recorded 13.8 degrees Celsius against 12.6 degrees Celsius and was 2.0 degrees Celsius above normal. Kupwara town recorded a minimum temperature of 18.6 degrees Celsius as against 19.2 degrees Celsius and was 2.5 degrees Celsius above normal this season, the official said.

He said the minimum temperature in Jammu was recorded at 27.2 degrees Celsius, which is 1.5 degrees Celsius above normal in the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Banihal recorded a minimum temperature of 20.8 degrees Celsius, Batote 19.3 degrees Celsius, Katra 23.4 degrees Celsius, while Bhaderwah recorded a minimum temperature of 21.9 degrees Celsius, the official said.

The weatherman has predicted light to moderate rain in Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours. (GNS)
