Lakhs of employees and pensioners of Indian Railways will get a hefty amount this month. The central government has already increased the dearness allowance from 31 per cent to 34 per cent. This change will be effective from January 1, 2022. Now implementing this, the Ministry of Railways has ordered all the zones to pay the increased Dearness Allowance (DA) to the employees and pensioners. It has also been asked to pay arrears for January, February and March.

The effect of this order of the Railway Board will come to 14 lakh railway employees and pensioners. In the salary of April, he will also get dearness allowance at the rate of 34 percent. Along with April salary, 14 lakh employees and pensioners will also get arrears from January to March. Railway Board Deputy Director Jai Kumar has issued a letter for this to all the zones and production units on Tuesday.

Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary of All India Railway Federation has given this information by tweeting along with the letter of Railway Board. According to the media reports quoting Shivgopal Mishra so far, dearness allowance along with arrears will be paid on April 30. For this, all the units have got a copy of the order of the Deputy Director. Following the order, now dearness allowance will be paid at the rate of 34 per cent instead of 31 per cent.

In the letter sent by the Deputy Director of the Railway Board, it has been said that now the dearness allowance should be paid to the railway employees at the rate of 34 percent instead of 31 percent of the basic pay from January 1, 2022. The letter states that in the revised salary structure, basic pay means ‘received’ as prescribed in the pay metrics. The Deputy Director also said in the letter that the arrears of dearness allowance cannot be paid before the salary disbursement of March 2022.
