If our train is halted at several stations, I cannot attend my office on Tuesday,” said a central government employee.
Some people who have some work outside the state may also have to face trouble for the movement. “I have an urgent meeting in Kolkata on Tuesday morning. I have canceled my ticket booked for Puri-Howrah Superfast Special, which departs from BHUBANESWAR at 11.50 AM on MONDAY due to RAIL ROKO call. I booked a bus ticket instead of choosing a train,” said Mukesh Swain, a merchant.
Congress The Left parties have extended their support to the 18 October agitation. Showing solidarity with the farmers’ movement, their farmers’ wings will take to the streets.
Suresh Panigrahy Samyukta Kisan Morcha said that they will observe rail roko at various railway stations in the state demanding the dismissal of Union Minister Ajay Mishra from his post with immediate effect. “Apart from withdrawing the agriculture laws, we demand strict action against those involved in the killing of farmers in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident,” he said.
Sources in the East Coast Railway (ECoR) said officials were asked on Thursday to be on alert for the rail roko movement of farmers’ organisations.
