Rahul: Punjab is not just a state but a symbol: Rahul | Ludhiana News – Times of India

Jalandhar : During my first visit Punjab after the announcement of the election Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Not only tried to connect with Punjab but also said that the state needs not only a ‘developmental step’ but a ‘revolutionary step’.
“Punjab is not just a state but a symbol, an ideology and a thought. This (Punjab) is a very important symbol for our (Congress) ideology. You have given a lot to the country. You gave a prime minister. Dr. Manmohan since 10 years Singh ji anchored this country. He is not just a person but a thinking, a way of working which you call Punjabiyat. This is your opinion and ours. I saw that our symbol Punja (palm) is in Punjab,” he said. In the 2009 general elections, the Congress won eight out of 13 seats in Punjab, when it contested in the name of Manmohan Singh.
Rahul said that other parties are concentrating powers in the hands of CM or PM. “We want to bring about decentralization and give power back to the people,” he said. “Employment is given by small shopkeepers and businesses and very large corporates do not create much jobs. At the national level, look at demonetisation. Small businesses suffered and only two-three billionaires benefited. Those two-three also benefited from GST, while small traders and shopkeepers suffered.
He congratulated the farmers of Punjab for standing up against the Center and forcing them to repeal three agricultural laws.
