Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday joined Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra at Chursu in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Rahul resumed his march from Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Speaking about the yatra, PDP president Mufti said the Bharat Jodo Yatra was like a ‘breath of fresh air’ in Kashmir as it allowed people to step out of their homes for the first time since 2019.

The Peoples Democratic Party leader said, “Rahul Gandhi’s visit comes like a breath of fresh air in Kashmir. This is the first time since 2019 that Kashmiris have come out of their homes in such large numbers. It was a great experience walking with him.” Was.” Tweeted.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah had also said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra has received a good response in Jammu and Kashmir and men, women of all age groups are lining up and ‘march for unity’.

Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking his intervention to deploy adequate security personnel for the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

“We are expecting a huge gathering to attend the yatra over the next two days and the ceremony to be held on January 30 in Srinagar. Several senior Congress leaders and leaders of other important political parties will attend the closing ceremony to be held on that day. I would be grateful if you could personally intervene in the matter and advise the concerned authorities to provide adequate security till the conclusion of the yatra and the function to be held in Srinagar on January 30,” Congress President said in his letter to the Home Minister.

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was earlier put on hold on Friday. This was done after the Congress alleged ‘very serious security lapses’ during the march’s entry into the Kashmir Valley.

The yatra was also halted on Wednesday due to bad weather and landslides. The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began on September 7 in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, will conclude in Srinagar on January 30 after covering 3,970 kms, 12 states and two union territories.
