Rahul Gandhi meets family of minor girl allegedly raped, murdered in Delhi
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday met the family of a minor girl who was allegedly raped, murdered and cremated without her parents’ consent in Delhi. Rahul met the family members inside his car.
“I spoke to the family… They want justice and nothing else. They are saying that justice is not being given to them and they should be helped. We will do that. I said ‘I stand with you. Rahul.’ Gandhi stands by his side till justice is served,’ Rahul told news agency ANI.
He separately tweeted, “Parents’ tears are saying only one thing – their daughter, the daughter of the country deserves justice. And I am with them on this path of justice.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is likely to meet the family members of the victim later today.
People from different walks of life, including a political leader, former top police officer and professional wrestler, joined the protest on Tuesday to press for the family’s demand for justice. The girl’s parents along with hundreds of locals staged a protest near the spot on Tuesday and demanded death penalty for the accused.
The Delhi Commission for Women has started an inquiry into the incident and the girl’s parents have alleged that she was raped and her body was forcibly cremated by the priest of the crematorium, who falsely claimed It was that he had suffered an electric shock.
