Rahul Gandhi Files Nomination From Wayanad

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi submitted his nomination papers in Wayanad for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He also conducted a roadshow in the constituency where he secured victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a significant margin of over four lakh votes.

He was the MP of Amethi from 2004 to 2019. In 2019, he played safe and filed nomination from both, Amethi and Wayanad. Amethi, historically a stronghold of the Congress party, had been represented by four members of the Gandhi family in the past—Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi went in Smriti Irani’s court.

Though, he won the Wayanad seat from a huge margin, he was defeated from Amethi by BJP candidate Smriti Irani by a margin of 55,000 votes.

There is currently no news regarding Rahul Gandhi’s intentions to reclaim his old citadel, whether he plans to field another high-profile candidate, or if the Samajwadi Party, the Congress party’s partner, will contest from there.
