India will face Australia in three one-day matches in Puducherry on September 21, 23, and 26, and then both sides will play two four-day matches against each other.

Former Indian captain and head coach Rahul Dravid’s elder son Samit Dravid was picked in India’s U-19 squad on Saturday (August 31) for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia. India will face Australia in a three-match one-day series that will be held in Puducherry on September 21, 23, and 26, and then both teams will play two four-day matches in Chennai.

Samit, who is a pace-bowling all-rounder, is currently playing for Mysore Warriors in the ongoing KSCA Maharaja T20 trophy in Bengaluru.

After he was picked in India’s U-19 squad, he expressed his happiness and said he has worked very hard for this moment.

“First of all, I am very happy to be selected, and thank you for all your wishes. I think I am feeling great; I worked very hard for this moment,” Samit said in a video shared by Star Sports Kannada on X.

The 18-year-old, who has only managed to score 82 runs in seven matches played so far in the KSCA Maharaja T20 trophy, made headlines for his super show in the Cooch Behar Trophy. He helped his domestic side, Karnataka, win the title for the first time. In that tournament, Samit amassed a total of 362 runs from eight matches and also dismissed 16 batters.

Four-day series: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Nitya Pandya, Vihan Malhotra, Soham Patwardhan (Captain), Kartikeya KP, Samit Dravid, Abhigyan Kundu (WK), Harvansh Singh Pangalia (WK), Chetan Sharma, Samarth N, Aditya Rawat, Nikhil Kumar, Anmoljeet Singh, Aditya Singh, Mohd Enaan.

Dravid’s coaching stint ended in June

Dravid, who played for India from 1996 to 2012, was appointed as head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team in November 2021, and his tenure came to an end in June 2024. In his last match as India’s head coach, India defeated South Africa by seven runs to win the 2024 edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
