‘Rafale gets him a ticket to Bastille Day Parade’ Rahul Gandhi hits out at PM Modi over his France visit

PM Modi’s visit to France: Former MP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his visit to France. Targeting PM Modi, he questioned his ‘silence’ on the Manipur issue. He made fun of him and said that Rafael gets him a ticket to the Bastille Day parade.

Congress leader Gandhi tweeted, “Manipur burnt. EU Parliament discussed India’s internal matter. PM didn’t say a word on it! Meanwhile, Rafale got him Bastille Day parade ticket.”

PM Modi’s visit to France

At the official invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Modi began his two-day visit to France on 13 July. PM Modi also marked his presence as the ‘guest of honour’ at the Bastille Day celebrations.

Gandhiji visited France in June

Earlier on June 29, the Congress leader had gone to violence-hit Manipur and wrote on Twitter that the state needed peace.

The Congress leader said, “Manipur needs peace to heal. During my two-day visit to the state, it broke my heart to see our brothers and sisters in pain. Peace is the only way forward and we all One must work for it.” ,

The state witnessed violence in early May following protests by the Kuki and Naga communities against a High Court order asking the state government to consider including the Meitei community as a Scheduled Tribe (ST) Was. Only ST can buy land in hilly areas.

The majority Meitei community living in the Imphal Valley and surrounding areas have sought ST status keeping in view their growing population and increasing need for land so that they can buy land in hilly areas.
