Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi
Ram Alladi tried to reflect Gandhi’s love for music through the soundtrack of his film Ra Ke Metanoiya, so he recreated his favorite Rabindranath Tagore song, Ekla Chalo.

Rabindranath Tagore is not just a name, but a whole culture in one. Be it our national anthem, literature chapters in our textbooks, soul-shaking music, stories that made us feel good, and at times shattered us. Tagore and his talent have followed us in every step of our life. “Jodi tor dak shunne keu na ashe tobe ekla cholo re,” Tagore wrote these iconic words and inspired the whole world with them.
Filmmaker Ram Alladi, who is known for his work Chisel and Ra’s Metanoia that juxtaposes Gandhi’s extraordinary life with a combination of fact and fiction, called the ‘music’ the most important part of Gandhi’s life. Ram has been adamant in making sure that the soundtrack to Ra’s Metanoia reflects Gandhi’s love and music, so he recreated and re-imagined Gandhi’s favorite song, Ekla Chalo, which means (if anyone calls your If does not respond, then go your own way alone).
Talking about the same, director Ram said, “Rabindranath Tagore was not just another soul walking this earth, but a living, breathing embodiment of art. Not only musicians and painters, but Tagore influenced film industries around the world with his talent, so I made sure to use Ekla Chalo Re in Ra Metanoiya, because on the last day of his fast, Gandhi kept saying Ekla Chalo, Ekla Chalo. And that is how I got the idea to not only remember Tagore, but with the soundtrack, it reflects Gandhi’s love for music and thus his favorite song was recreated. The song was sung by Maumisti Chakraborty, who won the Best Singer award and was composed by Gautham. Chakraborty.
