R Madhavan’s wife doesn’t want him to pose shirtless for social media, calls him ‘age appropriate’

Known for translating many iconic characters on celluloid, R Madhavan has certainly come a long way. At 51 years old, he has a versatile body of work and would like to die for it. In a career spanning nearly three decades, Madhavan remains a force to be reckoned with on-screen and a humble personality, off-screen.

Speaking candidly in a recent interview with The Telegraph, he talks about one of his shirtless selfies that took Instagram by storm. He was asked whether he had tried to understand his appeal among younger women. “I am embarrassed! I am not the hottest looking guy, you know. Hrithik Roshan is a Greek god and he must have that appeal. I am in awe of him,” Madhavan replied.

Though he himself does not know what prompted him to put up such pictures, the actor’s wife Sarita Birje asked him to calm it down. “My wife has said to me, ‘Can you please age-appropriate and not leave these pics?’ Star shared.

For someone like Madhavan, he wishes he had received more presence-oriented advice than when he was new to the industry. Like, ‘Maddy, don’t go out in public like an idiot’. At the same time, he quipped, ‘I have never been on the cover page of any magazine. can you believe it?”

Madhavan is gearing up for the release of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which marks his directorial debut. He is also gearing up for the premiere of his much-awaited web series Decoded. NS Netflix The show will release on December 17. Madhavan plays the role of Arya, a satirical and outspoken pulp fiction writer, who plays the role of Shruti in the play alongside Surveen Chawla.

Madhavan and Sarita have been married for two decades now. He believes that marriage, like all relationships, is a difficult task. He shared, “You not only have to adapt to who you are becoming, but who is becoming your partner.”
