R Madhavan opens up about donning the director’s hat. The actor hinted that he may never return to the director’s seat after Rocketry.
R Madhavan is making his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. While fans are eager to see what he has in store for him this weekend, the actor admitted that he is not keen on returning as a director in the future. In a recent interview, Madhavan described himself as ‘not qualified’ to be a director.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is an espionage scandal with Nambi Narayanan at its centre. Starring R Madhavan in the eponymous role, the film boasts of a powerful ensemble cast, which includes acclaimed international actors like Phyllis Logan, Vincent Ryota and Ron Donachi and has been presented exclusively by the superstar. Speaking about taking on the role of a director, Madhavan told Mid-Day, “I think I am not at all qualified to be a director. i didn’t go to anyone [filmmaking] school, nor have I helped anyone [director], I don’t think I will ever venture into directing again. So, I don’t care about validation [for my directorial skills] This time. Again, I haven’t sought verification for anything. I have been one of those vagabonds who follow their hearts. ,
The actor-director also revealed that he spent almost six years in the making of the film. Earlier, a series of videos showing Madhavan’s transformation was shared by the film’s team. In a video, Madhavan revealed, “It took me at least 18 hours to get the look of Nambi Narayanan.” He said that he bleached his hair and beard and had to add extra kilos for the role. Furthermore, the actor-turned-director said that “original places in the film have been taken to give a touch of reality and no facts have been tampered with.”
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is set to release on July 1. The film clashes with Aditya Roy Kapur’s Om – The Battle Within.
