A fantastic throw from Quinton de Kock to the stumps at the bowling end denied Axar Patel from a well-deserved half century in the T20 World Cup 2024 final.
Just as India was taking the game away from South Africa in the middle stages of the T20 World Cup 2024 final with the bat, Quinton de Kock managed to produce an outstanding effort from the field to get rid of the in-form Axar Patel.

Virat Kohli who was facing Kagiso Rabada in the 14th over, got one just towards the keeper on the leg-side. Kohli did not exactly give a call to Axar for the single but the batter was ball-watching as Axar charged on towards the striker’s end but was forced to make a quick return.
de Kock who was stood around the leg-slip area, collected the ball and was able to go for the direct hit at the non-striker’s end and surprisingly got the hit as the ball deflected and headed towards the boundary. But the wicket-keeper batter was confident with that attempt and the replays showed the Axar was short of his crease and was dismissed after a well-made 47.
The Indian team were pegged back in the powerplay with the early dismissal of the Indian captain Rohit Sharma along with Suryakumar Yadav but Virat Kohli managed to find his form after enduring a disastrous tournament. He managed to go past his fifty and looks to put India in front with a solid knock as he hopes to bat through the innings.
South Africa have not backed down in the contest and the second innings will further fuel the drama as to who will win the coveted trophy. South Africa are gunning for their first World Cup title while India will hope to end their long-standing World Cup drought.
The form of Virat Kohli is certainly a pleasing sight for all the fans with the icon delivering when it matters most and proving his doubters wrong as he has always done.
India will hope that their bowling attack can also deliver the same ferocity as they have done throughout the tournament and take the team to glory.
