The institute has been ranked 48th and five academic programs of the institute have secured top-100 rank globally

The 13th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 has been released today, March 22, 2023. Accordingly, the Indian Institute of technology (IIT) Delhi was listed as one of the top 50 institutes in the world for engineering and technology.

IIT Delhi is ranked 48th globally with a score of 80.1 in Engineering and Technology, which is the institute’s core area. Last year the institute got 72nd rank.

In addition, five of the institute’s academic programs are among the top 100 disciplines globally in the engineering and technology sector. The five programs include Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering.

The institute’s Electrical Engineering program was ranked 49th (composite score of 76.7), Computer Science was ranked 67th (composite score of 71.8), Mechanical Engineering was ranked 70th (composite score of 75.5), Civil Engineering was ranked in the 51-100 bracket ( overall) score of 77.0), and chemical engineering was ranked 96 (composite score of 72.4).

Some subjects also ranked in the top two domestically: Electrical and Electronics (1st), Civil and Structural (1st), Statistics and Operations Research (1st), Computer Science and Information Systems (2nd), Chemistry (2nd), Materials Science (II), and Biological Science (II).

A total of 54 specific subjects were ranked by QS in 2023 out of 1594 institutions across the world under five broad subject areas.
