Imran Khan also blamed Qamar Javed Bajwa for the disqualification of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case.

Former Pakistan army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa’s behavior changed after he was given extension as army chief in 2019, former prime minister Imran Khan Claimed.

After the expansion, General Bajwa changed sides and entered into a settlement with Sharif. They, at that time, decided to give them the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO),” Imran Khan said while speaking in an interview with a private channel, according to The News International.

Imran Khan said that there were two General Bajwa, one before the expansion and one after.

The former Pakistani PM also claimed that Bajwa appointed Hussain Haqqani as Pakistan’s then ambassador to the United States and said that Haqqani joined the office through the Foreign Office without any information.

“They met Haqqani in Dubai and hired him in September 2021,” Khan said.

According to the report, Khan said that Haqqani started lobbying against him in the US and promoted Gen (retd) Bajwa.

Khan, 70, was ousted from power in April last year through a no-confidence motion.

Khan said, “General Bajwa repeatedly asked us to focus on the economy and forget about accountability.”

He said, Mr. X and Mr. Y increased their pressure in Punjab and threatened our people to join PML-N.

Imran Khan also blamed Qamar Javed Bajwa for the disqualification of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case.

“He (Bajwa) had sent two brigadiers who proved that Nawaz was involved in the Panama affair. This is the reason why Nawaz is not forgiving Bajwa.

He further said that the allegations leveled against him in the Toshakhana case were blown out of proportion unnecessarily.

The claim comes nearly a year after Imran Khan was removed as the PM, resulting in a political crisis in Pakistan.
