Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia has no ill intentions towards its neighbours, amid escalating tensions in Ukraine. He said that Russia has so far fulfilled all its economic obligations and will continue to do so. He called on other countries to normalize relations and cooperation.

“We have no ill intentions towards our neighbours. I would suggest to them not to escalate the situation, not to impose sanctions, we fulfill all obligations and will continue to fulfill them,” Putin said.

His statement came in the light of the ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine. He defended Russia, saying all its actions were a reaction to “unfriendly actions” towards Russia. “We do not see the need to aggravate the situation and worsen our relations. All our actions, when they are, are only in response to actions that are not favorable towards Russia. I think that we should all normalize relations. Need to think about doing and collaborating”, he said. Earlier today, Putin held a meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council.

Meanwhile, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has begun to move troops from its southern and eastern military districts to replenish its ranks.

Russia has exhausted most of its operational reserves in Ukraine, The Kyiv Independent reported.
