Punjab may soon get a new Director General of Police (DGP). The current DGP VK Bhavra is preparing to go on central deputation. In this regard, he has also sent a letter to the Punjab Government and the Union Home Department. Although formally he has not said anything about it. The government is angry with DGP Bhavra in the Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala case. Because of this, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had to face defeat in Sangrur.

If VK Bhavra goes to the center then Gaurav Yadav can become the new DGP. Yadav has been made Special Principal Secretary to CM Bhagwant Mann. The name of Special Task Force (STF) Chief Harpreet Sidhu is also included in this race. Both these officers have recently been promoted to the post of DGP.

DGP VK Bhavra was appointed by the previous Congress government. However, after the election, AAP came to power. Despite this, he remained in the post. In which despite having a security threat, the security of Moosewala was reduced. This is the reason why AAP lost despite being in power in Sangrur elections.
