The Congress had earlier announced that the party would contest the elections under the “collective leadership” of Sidhu, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and the former PCC chief. Sunil Jakhar,
Sidhu also said that he discussed his “Punjab model” suggestions with the party high command and added that the Congress was soon going to announce its first list of candidates for the assembly elections.
“Whatever I have proposed is with the consent of the party general secretary (Priyanka). It will go to them before going into the manifesto. But my future depends on it and I have said this before. There will be no compromise. I have fought for this for more than five years. I told the high command that this is the agenda which I will take to the people.
“Punjab is not an individual’s private property,” he said. He said that he has not given any ultimatum to the party. “I have already discussed this with the high command. “All things will be policy-driven, don’t associate them with any individual. Things will come in the party manifesto, it will be a collective thing.
He declined to comment on the bail granted to SAD member Bikram Singh Majithia, saying the matter was sub-judice.
